Students Feedback

The following quotes represents overall students' feedback across all courses and other activties like workshops

The best part of this course was the class engagement and activities which enhanced understanding of the topics discussed.

(The best part were) the practical sessions and the ability to apply strategic problem-solving skills.

The course was able to reveal aspects of my personality that I can mitigate to optimize my negotiation skills. I also learned a lot about the different aspects of non verbal cues in negotiations.

The course is very interesting to learn how to negotiate, make agreements and maintain a good relationship with other participants.

The course concept was the most interesting part for me. The course was novel and required a re-orientation of the concept of academic teaching and learning which was appreciated.

Dr Pawinski was very upbeat, friendly, and engaging. He was always willing to help students deepen understanding and remained patient throughout our discussions.

The extensive feedback provided by the lecturer allowed students to understand the errors made and how to improve.

The Professor was able to clearly explain the course content. He was patient and made the class enjoyable through comedic inclusion and real-life scenarios.

The creative ways assignments were delivered using various IT and online platforms made the course enjoyable. Also the lecturer ensured what was taught was understood and he also had a wealth of knowledge in this area.

The best part of this course was the fact that it was more practical and allowed students to implement theory thus resulting in a different learning experience. The extensive feedback provided by the lecturer allowed students to undertake self reflection, learn and improve.

Dr. Pawinski's teaching style is much more structured for critical thinking. When the UWI speaks about critical thinking I think that this is what it is trying to achieve.

The readings were very interesting and stimulated critical reflection and further investigative research. Although at times they were heavy, they were always so intriguing.

I like that we were able to be participative each week, where via breakout rooms, using new applications, contest views with other classmates, and more so I believe that this course taught something fresh in IR - something about policy analysis, looking at various cases something about strategy. I like that Dr. Pawinski had patience and did not rush us and it was easy to ask questions where possible. Also, I like the usage of videos on the topic, it opens my eyes to some new information and better ways of understanding. Even though the class was 4 hours, these activities made it seems shorter.

The interactive sessions. The lecturer was very passionate about the material and that make the course easier to follow.

This was my favorite course for the semester. I was skeptical but the gaming sessions presented a unique and out of the box way of practicing diplomacy. It was riveting, engaging and Dr. Pawinski spent more than 12 hours going through instructions and providing very detailed feedback. An excellent course I would recommend to all of my peers!

I liked the nature of the course delivery. Every week we engaged in class tasks based on our individual readings, which made learning a hands-on experience.

It was online, but included opportunities for group work/learning, breakout sessions as well as adequate class interaction.

For this course , I like that it was different from what we are regularly taught, I felt that it allowed you to be your own boss and presented a scope of IR - game simulations that we would have to wait maybe until after school do engage in , the course taught you about yourself and it intelligence base.

The lecturer is excellent.
Non-course related feedback:
 Dear Dr. Pawinski,

Today I found out that I was awarded my degree and I wanted to thank you for all the support you gave to me through the difficult months. I was about to give up and you urged me not to and today I'm the proudest I've ever been of myself. I am extremely grateful for that push to keep going because today I not only made my mother proud but I'm the first member in my family to get this far. Thank you thank you thank you.
